The rare 5-ducat coin of Leopold I – on display in Bratislava

At the Bratislava Collectors Days, the public will have a rare opportunity to view one of the most valuable and beautiful examples of Hungarian gold coinage in history. At our stand, we will present an exceptionally rare 5-ducat coin of Leopold I from 1669, minted in Kremnica. This particular specimen is considered the finest known example of its issue, and its value is estimated at over €150,000.

The obverse of the coin features Emperor Leopold I standing in armor and cloak, wearing a crown and holding a sword, sceptre, and orb – the full regalia of imperial power. The reverse shows a finely detailed image of the Madonna on a crescent moon, with a halo, crown, sceptre, and child in her arms, surrounded by a radiant glory. Beneath the scene is a small Hungarian coat of arms. The coin bears the mintmark K–B, confirming its origin from the renowned Kremnica Mint.

This 5-ducat coin is one of the crowning achievements of Habsburg minting and a true treasure of global numismatics. Visitors to the event will have a unique opportunity to admire a work of exceptional artistic and historical value, which is rarely seen outside the vaults of private collections. Its exhibition is a truly exceptional numismatic experience that no history or coin enthusiast should miss.

Exclusively during Bratislava Collectors Days – only at our stand.
