The headquarters of Münze Österreich, the Austrian Mint, is located in the Austrian capital of Vienna. Its origins date back to 1194 when Richard I, also known as Richard the Lionheart, paid a ransom of 100,000 marks of silver to the Austrian Duke Leopold V. Half of this silver was then used to mint new coins, marking the beginning of the Austrian Mint's history. Since its foundation, it has undergone numerous changes and developments to become one of the most renowned mints in the world, with a rich history and tradition.

One of the most famous products of Münze Österreich is the Vienna Philharmonic coin series. These coins, available in gold, silver, and platinum versions, are among the best-selling investment coins globally. The Philharmonic coins are cherished for their high-quality minting and beautiful design, which celebrates the music and culture of Vienna. Münze Österreich is known for its high-quality and precise coins, crafted using traditional methods. Coins produced by the Austrian Mint hold international prestige and are sought after by collectors, investors, and numismatists worldwide.

    Wiener Philharmoniker Investment Silver Coins

The Philharmoniker coins are not only famous in their gold version, but the Austrian Mint, Münze Österreich, also introduced a beautiful silver version of these investment coins. When the Austrian Mint released the silver Vienna Philharmonic coins in February 2008, it marked the first time a European silver coin with 99.9% purity was introduced to the market.

This silver coin is exclusively minted in a 1-ounce version (31.1 g), with millions of coins sold annually. The silver bullion coins of the Wiener Philharmoniker are a highly popular investment product issued by the Austrian Mint, making them ideal for investing, collecting, or gifting.

    COIN DESIGN:

The silver Philharmoniker coin retains the same design as its gold counterpart.

On the obverse (front) side of the coin, the famous organ from the Golden Hall of the Vienna Philharmonic is depicted, along with the name of the issuing country – REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH, the year of minting, weight, and face value according to the coin's size.

On the reverse (back) side, the renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is shown, featuring various string and wind instruments such as the French horn, bassoon, harp, cello, and violin. At the top, the name of the coin, WIENER PHILHARMONIKER, is inscribed. The overall design of the coin is elegant and represents Austria's pride in its musical and cultural heritage.
