Krugerrand Gold Bullion Coins

The Krugerrand is the first gold bullion coin ever produced and sold to the public. This iconic gold coin, originating from South Africa, was introduced in 1967 by the South African Mint as a means of promoting South African gold to international investors.

The Krugerrand is struck from gold with a purity of 91.67% (22 karats). Although the coin is only 22 karats, its weight is adjusted so that each coin contains exactly one troy ounce of pure gold. The remainder of the coin's composition is copper, which gives the Krugerrand its distinctive bright orange color and makes it more resistant to damage and wear.

Krugerrands are highly favored by investors due to their globally recognized value and liquidity. These gold coins are easily identifiable worldwide, making their purchase, sale, and exchange convenient. Initially introduced as one-ounce bullion coins (1 OZ = 31.1 g), smaller coin sizes were added in 1980, including 1/2 ounce (15.55 g), 1/4 ounce (7.78 g), and 1/10 ounce (3.11 g), providing greater flexibility for investors.

Coin Design:

On the reverse side, the coin features an image of a Springbok, the national animal of South Africa. It also includes the name "KRUGERRAND," the year of minting, and the coin’s weight, depending on its size.
