200 Koruna 2023 - 75th anniversary of the appointment of Josef Karel Matocha as Archbishop of Olomouc

On March 1, 2023, the Czech National Bank is issuing a commemorative silver two-hundred-crown coin for the 75th anniversary of the appointment of Josef Karel Matocha as Archbishop of Olomouc. The two hundred crown is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts of silver and 75 parts of copper and is issued in two versions, in regular and top (proof), which differ in surface treatment and edge design. For top quality coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matte, the edge is smooth with the frieze "ČESKÁ NÁRODNÍ BANKA * Ag 0.925 * 13 g *". Coins of common quality have a scalloped edge. The diameter of the coin is 31 mm, the weight is 13 g and the thickness is 2.2 mm. As with any coinage, these coins are allowed to have a tolerance of 0.1mm in diameter and 0.15mm in thickness. An upward deviation of 0.26 g is allowed in the weight and an upward deviation of 1% in the silver content.

On the obverse side of the two-hundred-crown coin, a cross in a crown of thorns is depicted in the middle of the coin field. The cross is partially covered by a small shield from the personal coat of arms of Archbishop Josef Karel Matocha. Around the perimeter of the coin is the text "CZECH REPUBLIC" in the copy. The designation of the nominal value with the abbreviation of the monetary unit "200 CZK" is located at the bottom edge of the coin. The mark of the Czech Mint consisting of the letters "Č" and "M" is located at the lower right edge of the small shield. On the reverse side of the two-hundred crown coin is a portrait of Josef Karel Matocha. A simplified version of the coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Olomouc is located at the lower right edge of the coin, and the texts "1948" and "2023" are placed on the right above it. The texts "JOSEF KAREL MATOCHA" and "APPOINTMENT OF THE ARCHBISHOP OF OLOMOUCK" are found in an incomplete copy around the perimeter of the coin. The initials of the author of the coin Mgr. Marie Šeborová, which are formed by the composition of the letters "M" and "Š", are placed above the text "1948".
